Pots suitable for induction must have a perfectly flat bottom. They are either completely made of special, ferromagnetic metal or have special bottom insert made of it. It will pick up varying magnetic field generated by inductor which will in turn generate heat. What is more important – it will automatically adjust its power to pot size placed on top of it.
Traditional pots cannot be use to cook on induction hob since they will not be picked up by a magnetic sensor. This will not turn the inductor on and cooking will not be possible.
What should we know before purchase?
Before selecting proper pots, we have to know what to look for in them. Of course, the most important element that must be checked is their bottom – it must be flat. There cannot be anything engraved – this will make the bottom unsuitable.
It is also worth checking the diameter. If we own a hob which does not heat all of its top surface, then we have to select those that will fit sizes of out inductors. On the other hand, if the diameter of the pot is smaller than the inductor, then those pots will also not be suitable for cooking. Also, it is good to buy pots that have handles which will not transfer heat.
It is also important to select pots made by well-established manufacturer, which are strong and made of good quality materials. Cheap pots are unreliable (can be unrecognizable for magnetic sensors), can get damaged quickly and may even produce very irritating buzzing noise. In worst case scenario, they may even damage inductors. When buying pots, it is worth paying more for better ones. They will be more expensive, but their cost will be stretched over a longer period. They will also make cooking easier. Cheaper pots are notorious for being not induction-compatible (even if the manufacturer states otherwise) and may demagnetize after some time.
Which pots should be avoided?
As it was previously mentioned, traditional pots will not be suitable. Also, ceramic glass and copper pots will not work. They do not pick up magnetic field generated by hob.
Also, we should remember that we may find pots made from those materials, but have a special, ferromagnetic bottom suitable for induction. Those pots are naturally marked as such.
Induction pots and their multifunctionality
Induction-suitable pots are more expensive than traditional ones, but they are multi-functional. While traditional ones cannot be used on induction hobs, but induction-suitable pots can be used on ceramic and gas hobs. Modern induction suitable pots are of very high quality and higher purchase price is reasonable.
Suitable hob
Of course, proper pots are not enough to cook quickly and conveniently. A hob is very important. Kernau brand offers a broad selection of induction hobs – they are equipped with modern technology and functions. A very good solution may be KIH 64 model. It is a touch control hob, with ANTI TOUCH surface on control panel – it will protect the glass from fingermarks. It also has AUTO-POWER, thanks to which each induction zone will automatically adjust to pot size. It also has STAND-BY function – after turning it off it will stay in standby mode, which will reduce power consumption.
Kernau has various hobs in offer, both with four and with two induction zones.
